ART Relationship Therapy Intensives

Whether this is for a familial relationship, or a romantic one, invest in a future where you can bond and trust each other completely. Together, with a professional experienced in treating relationships with generations of trauma, you can feel the support and love that has been hidden behind your stresses. The time spent together in these sessions is focused on helping see the pain driving the problems underneath the arguments & emotional detachment, and is guided towards healing this relationship, so that you can feel closer and better understood.

Using Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), these Relationship Therapy Intensives are structured in a way where we:

  • Have an initial 3-hour intake appointment, going through consent forms, your history, what goals we’d like to achieve, and understanding what unresolved traumas you each have that could be indirectly showing up within your relationship unnoticed.

  • Then in either a combined 3-hour session, or 2 separately scheduled 75-minute sessions, each of you have your own ART session to process things from your past that could be negatively impacting your relationship.

  • After that, we’d come back all together, notice what has changed within your relationship, and plan out together what still needs to be processed, preparing for another round of ART sessions.

  • Then we’d repeat that process until we have cleared out what has been weighing down your relationship. Some of us have a lot of baggage, some don’t, and so some relationship may only need the 1 round of ART sessions, while others might need 5+ ART sessions. Based on experience though, each ART session should leave you both feeling lighter and more healed.

These intensives can be used in-conjunction with your time spent with other therapists (you might have a couples therapist that works more on relationship skills with you, while with me, we focus on trauma, or you might be in individual therapy, using this to addressing the relationship issues), as a jumpstart to healing (like “our relationship is 75% of the way to perfect, we just need a tune-up”, or “there is just this one issue…”), or as the only method you want to use to improve this relationship.

These relationship intensives can also be used for processing a trauma you both went through together (siblings who grew up with abusive parents, a couple who had a traumatic car accident or a devastating stillbirth, roommates who are still afraid after a break-in or a burglary, a father and daughter grieving after his wife/her mother passed away, etc). Some people prefer this way to go about therapy because you can both heal at the same pace and can talk about your experiences with each other throughout this process.

*If opting for separately scheduled ART sessions, scheduling could be more flexible, depending on my availability. These intensives can be scheduled fairly quickly in succession, for example, having both an AM and PM 3-hour session on a Sunday (total of 6 hours), and another 3-hour session on a Wednesday afternoon. If you are looking for this service to be provided in your home, I am able to do that on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, just be sure to ask me about it (there is an additional charge for distances further than 20 miles from my office).
