While I do not accept insurance, I am happy to help you understand your out-of-network benefits, provide you with a superbill, and utilize a service to help those superbills get submitted to your insurance on your behalf, so that way you can get reimbursed by your insurance more quickly, or even where you can just pay your estimated out-of-pocket expense.
If the cost is your biggest barrier to working with me, and you otherwise feel that we would be a good fit, please talk to me! I offer discounted rates to a portion of my caseload to help make quality therapy more accessible.
I don’t use a sliding scale, because what is a livable income to one person, is struggling to make ends meet for another. When I offer a discounted rate, we’ll discuss what rate is enough to allow you to fully benefit from therapy services, and where the fee is workable for both of us.

My biggest reason: insurance restricts what I can do to help. Even though longer sessions are more effective for trauma treatment, and can work better for some people’s schedules, insurance won’t pay for it. Even sessions that are 55 minutes will often get scrutinized by insurance, minimizing the support that a relatively “functional” person deserves, because insurance seeks to pay the least it can (that’s how they make money). Overall, when therapy is just between you and me, we get to make the important decisions.

When a provider is not contracted with your insurance, like me, they are considered “out-of-network”. Most insurance plans will offer to pay a portion of the costs for you to see a provider they are not contracted with. Sometimes this requires meeting a deductible first, sometimes it doesn’t. If you are interested in whether or not you have out-of-network benefits available, and how much they would reimburse, I have a service that I can use to help check that for you.
In order for you to get reimbursed by your insurance for a service provided by someone that is out-of-network, you provide your insurance a receipt showing the date of the service, the diagnosis being treated, who provided the service, and what you paid. This receipt is called a superbill. If you have out-of-network benefits that you’d like to use, I can utilize a 3rd party provider to submit those superbills for you and allow you to just pay your estimated out-of-pocket costs at the time of our session. -
It saves you both time and money.
When you have a therapy session, you usually spend at least the first 10 minutes normally getting comfortable, and catching up about what has happened since the previous session. At the end of the session, we normally spend about 10 minutes getting grounded, reflecting upon session takeaways, thinking about what we want to do in the next session, and scheduling our next session. So in a typical 45-minute therapy session, that leaves you with maybe 25 minutes of deeper processing. For most people, it can take that long to just warm up and feel comfortable to even go there, and then you have to quickly wrap up and leave. In a 75-minute session, you take away that 10 minutes from the beginning and 10 minutes from the end, and you have 55 minutes to process those deeper feelings. So for an additional 50% of the cost of a session, you get over double the value!
If we block out for a 3-hour (165-minute) intensive, we take out the 10 minutes at the beginning, and 10 at the end, even giving ourselves a 10-minute break in there, and we get 135 minutes of deeper processing. So, for only 3x the cost of a 45-minute session, you are getting over 5x the amount of space for some deep healing!
Working more intensively like this helps you not only save money, but you see results faster because you’ve gotten the chance to do more of that meaningful work. Plus, if you have to take time off of work or hire a babysitter, working in this way means needing to rearrange your schedule less frequently, while letting you get similar or even faster benefits. Talk to me if you are interested!
