Focus More on Delighting Yourself

When someone is a people-pleaser, there is a strong desire to be liked. Maybe that’s from a fear of being abandoned, or trying to avoid not feeling enough, but there often is too strong of a pull towards figuring out what others want and molding oneself to becoming that. But you don’t have to in order to be liked. Consider these words from Mark Ryden: "I believe if you follow your heart and do what you love, success will follow. If you enchant yourself, others will be too." When you capture your own interest, others will follow along and be pulled in by that same charm. You don’t need to spend all of this time trying to uncover the mysteries or what other people like - spend time figuring out what you like! When you find yourself enamored with your own energy, presence, and liveliness, others are drawn to that too. Plus, when you seek to make yourself happy, the end result is far less time wasted and you automatically are pleased, because you know yourself better than anyone else, and you get real-time feedback from yourself about whether or not something is pleasurable to you.

"I believe if you follow your heart and do what you love, success will follow. If you enchant yourself, others will be too."

~ Mark Ryden
