Healing Takes Place in the Now
There’s a myth that shares how one needs to heal before they can enjoy life. While certainly, healing helps enjoy life as it is now, I think that healing can happen in addressing the now. Take these words written by Nicholas Sparks: "For a moment, I wondered how different my life would have been had they been my parents, but I shook the thought away. I knew my father had done the best he could, and I had no regrets about the way I'd turned out. Regrets about the journey, maybe, but not the destination. Because however it had happened, I'd somehow ended up eating shrimp in a dingy downtown shack with a girl that I already knew I'd never forget." If you appreciate the life you currently have, you can better view the past as the past and see how it got you to where you are now. Like the quote wistfully indicates, you don’t have to appreciate the journey it took to get you where you are now, but when you create a life you enjoy, all of that seems distant and not as important. So as you embark on your healing journey, make sure to make decisions for your everyday life that you actually like. Get to a destination you are glad to have reached after such a treacherous journey.
